個人的には、1. Inventory Everything すべてを棚卸しするをそろそろ本気を出して取り組みたいところ。

Once you know what you have, categorize it.

一度すべてを把握して、カテゴライズすることが大事。

2. Only Keep Multipurpose Items 多目的に使えるモノだけを残す

Don’t keep anything that doesn’t serve multiple purposes in your home.

一つの目的にしか使えない物は、残しておくべきじゃない。

3. Don’t Be Too Spartan 神経質になりすぎてはいけない

100-Item minimalism isn’t about denying yourself pleasure, it’s about finding pleasure in simplicity. So you should end up with Items that make you happy and make your life easier.

モノを減らすことは、あなたの大切なものを大事にしないってこととは違うんだ。純粋に大切なものについて考えることなんだ。だから、最終的にモノは、日々の生活もあなた自身もHappyにしてくれるものであるべきだ。

4. Obey the 12-month Rule １２ヶ月ルールに従う

Ditch everything you haven’t used in the last 12 months.

12ヶ月使わなかったものはすべて捨ててしまえ。いつか使うかもしれないからと言って増え続ける物をなんとかしなきゃいけないですね。ここは、ScanSnapを買うべきか。

5.Re-purge 再-消去 (???わからない)

Don’t be afraid of ditching something you might need in the future.

もし使うかもしれないってモノを捨てるのをあんまり心配しないでいい。いざとなったらまた買えばいいし、捨てるかどうかためらうものって大抵使わないですよね。

6. Take Care of Business ビジネスを大切にする

If you work out of a home office, you might think that there are certain items that you can’t live without– a printer, a fax machine, a desk. And you’d be wrong. Obviously, your needs will vary depending on what line of work you are in.
